The glitz and glamour of this American icon made her irresistible to the world, as she captivated the hearts of millions. The legendary Marilyn Monroe will step back into the spotlight at Telfair Museums’ exhibition, Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon, at the Jepson Center for the Arts. This internationally traveling exhibition features more than 100 works owned by private collectors in Europe, Sotheby’s archives, European art galleries and artists’ estates. Presented in a variety of media including photographs, paintings, and videos, Marilyn captures the Hollywood celebrity behind the scenes and in the spotlight. From fashion photography to Pop Art, the exhibit invites the viewer to take a visual tour through the lenses of Andy Warhol, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Alfred Eisenstaedt along with other famed artists, to discover the fascination with the sex symbol that was Marilyn Monroe.
